I have
been paper crafting for about five years now, but have created my own designs
and graphics for many years prior to that. When I started my paper crafting
I had my own ideas about what I wanted to do, but the products I wanted were not
available to buy either in craft shops or on TV, so I bought the items and designs
available and off I went to happily make cards. This lasted about six months
but I soon realised that this wasn't enough for me; the designs were too limiting.
It was at this stage that I decided to create my own designs and make the
cards I wanted to make.
I
started by designing inserts, toppers and backing papers which I used to create
my own unique cards. I then started sourcing different types of papers like
shrink paper, embossing paper, silver and gold paper, adhesive vellum and of course,
what has since become my specialty - self-adhesive glossy paper. After
managing to get a large supply of these different papers, I started to create
designs on my PC and then printed them onto the different papers and then sold
them as individual design sheets. People seemed to like them and soon I
was asked to do different things.
I then designed more comprehensive sets and made them
available to other crafters by selling them on ebay. This was when the Toppers
& Tiles idea was born; large toppers complimented by smaller tiles which have
a similar design. Fortunately, the buyers at Ideal World thought my self-adhesive
Toppers & Tiles designs were a good idea and they gave me the opportunity
to appear on Ideal World. The viewers seemed to like them so now I appear
regularly on both Ideal World and Create and Craft with my designs.
Tuliptoppers was created
soon after my first TV appearance when I realised my designs were becoming quite
popular so I made the decision to start my own business. I run the business
with my husband and son from our shop in Shipley, West Yorkshire.
Tuliptoppers is all
about offering crafters the opportunity to create cards that are both unique and
stylish. We’re never afraid to try something new and are constantly creating
new and innovative designs.
